Prince Uche Secondus, the national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to call his chief of staff, Prof Ibrahim Gambari and the ex-national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, to order over their alleged plan to rig Edo election. Nigerian Tribune reports that he said that unless the president acts quickly, the recent meeting between Oshiomhole and Gambari has the capacity to truncate democracy in the country.
In a press conference at the national secretariat of the PDP in Abuja on Thursday, August 20, Secondus said that APC has a plan to clamp down on PDP stakeholders in Edo state. He said: “PDP has watched with utmost concern the developing situation in Edo state. We have watched the growing desperation of the APC and the presidency to capture Edo state in the September 19, gubernatorial election at all cost.
